Loadouts seem to be fully customizable, and spells will be easy to access and swap around during combat, thanks to a sleek menu system. Obviously, a wand will be the weapon of choice, and players will have plenty of spells at their disposal in the game - even dark magic, since Hogwarts Legacy's developers knew fans wanted Avada Kedavra and the other Unforgivable Curses to be usable. Hogwarts Legacy's main character is sure to get into more altercations than they'll avoid, and so a large part of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay will revolve around combat. Along the way, they'll encounter Dark Wizards using formidable dark magic, a full-fledged goblin rebellion, and even poachers who seek to harm the creatures who inhabit the surrounding land. Some sort of mysterious, ancient magic has reappeared in Hogwarts, wreaking havoc in the wizarding world - and of course, in between Hogwarts Legacy's classes and learning new magic, the protagonist has the key to saving everyone from a grim fate (or conquering the world, based on their decisions). There are also some characters who are ancestors to well-known Harry Potter personalities, such as Hogwarts' Headmaster, Phineas Nigellus Black, and Professor Matilda Weasley. Gryffindor's Natsai Onai, Slytherin's Sebastian Sallow, Hufflepuff's Poppy Sweeting, and Ravenclaw's Amit Thakar each look to have extensive quest lines, and completing them will seemingly unlock them as loyal followers. Many Hogwarts Legacy characters have already been revealed on the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter page, but likely some of the most significant and narratively complex will be the four companions, differing by house like Hogwarts Legacy's common rooms. Of course, the player won't be alone, and they'll find themselves in the company of dozens of unique witches and wizards.
